We have been doing this for quite some time. Since 1986, we have manufactured lens cleaning and anti-fog products that actually work. We did not stumble into this industry by accident.
Karen, our founder and owner, started KleerVu because she was frustrated. She wore glasses and could not find a lens cleaner spray that solved her problems without creating new ones. Dirty lenses, streaky residue, and damaged coatings were everywhere. She wanted a real solution, so she built one herself.
That decision launched four decades of manufacturing. Today, we want to share what those 40 years taught us about what separates a great lens cleaner from a cheap one.
Why Generic Lens Cleaners Fall Short
Walk into any drugstore and you will find a spray bottle of something labeled “eyeglass cleaner.” Cheap ones line the shelves. Most people grab one without thinking twice.
Here is the problem. Generic lens cleaners are often made with isopropyl alcohol, ammonia, or harsh household cleaners. Those ingredients leave residue. They can damage lens coatings, including anti reflective and anti glare coatings, over time.
Some people skip spray entirely and reach for paper towels, a t shirt, or even a dryer sheet. That is a mistake. Those materials scratch lenses instead of cleaning them. Even a dryer sheet carries enough texture to leave micro-abrasions on your eyeglass lens.
Others try dish soap, hot water, or cold water with a fabric softener cloth. Homemade solutions sound harmless, but they often leave streaks or strip coatings. Dish soap is not formulated for anti reflective lenses. It was made for your plates, not your glasses.
The whole point of cleaning your lenses is to see clearly. If your cleaner leaves streaks, clouds coatings, or causes scratches, it defeats the purpose entirely.
What We Learned From 40 Years Of Manufacturing
Building the best lens cleaner for eyeglasses is not about adding more ingredients. It is about understanding exactly what lenses need.
We learned early on that less is more. A tiny drop of the right formula outperforms a full spray of the wrong one. We formulated our products to be alcohol free and ammonia free. That protects your lens coatings instead of breaking them down.
We also learned that the application process matters. A clean microfiber cloth paired with our lens cleaner spray produces a streak free finish every time. Alcohol wipes and paper towels do not. Neither do old cleaning cloths that carry dirt from previous use.
We manufacture two bottles for a reason. Our KleerVu Anti-Fog Cleaner handles everyday eyeglass cleaning and fog prevention. Our Pristine Lens Cleaner is formulated specifically for specialty coatings like Crizal, Teflon, and other anti reflective lenses. Using the wrong cleaner on specialty coatings is a fast way to ruin new glasses.
Proudly manufactured 100% in the USA, every formula we produce is tested before it reaches your hands. That consistency is something generic brands cannot guarantee.
The Things Other Sprays Will Not Tell You
Most generic spray cleaners do not disclose what is actually in them. Steer clear of anything that lists alcohol or ammonia without explaining how it interacts with lens coatings.
Here is what those other sprays often leave behind. Residue on nose pads, buildup around the frame edges, and a foggy film on anti reflective lenses. You clean your glasses and they still do not look clean. That is a formula problem, not a wiping problem.
Microfiber cloths help, but only when paired with the right spray. A clean microfiber cloth with a bad cleaner still produces a mediocre result. The cloth and the solution work together. Both need to be right.
We also hear from customers who use the same cloth for days without washing it. Dirt and oils transfer right back onto your lenses. Hand wash your microfiber cloths regularly and let them air dry. Never use fabric softener when washing them. Fabric softener leaves a coating on the fibers that reduces their effectiveness.
What Works On More Than Just Eyeglasses
We get questions all the time about what else our products clean. The answer surprises people.
Our anti-fog cleaner works on camera lenses, sunglasses, VR headsets, cell phones, and safety goggles. Anywhere you need lenses crystal clear and fog free, our formula performs. Businesses use it across industries for exactly that reason.
If you wear glasses, you know how quickly lenses fog up in cold weather, during exercise, or while wearing a mask. Generic lens wipes slow that fog down temporarily. Our anti-fog formula stops it. We back that up with our anti-fog guarantee.
How To Actually Clean Your Glasses The Right Way
We want you getting the most out of your cleaner. Here is the process we recommend for keeping your glasses crystal clear.
Start by using lukewarm water to rinse away loose dust and debris. Remove dust before you wipe. Wiping dust without rinsing first is how scratches happen.
Apply a tiny drop or a quick spray of our lens cleaner spray to both lenses simultaneously. That covers both lenses quickly without oversaturating. Then use a clean microfiber cloth to wipe in a circular motion.
Gently dry the lenses with a second dry section of the cloth. Do not rub hard. Avoid scratching by keeping your touch light. Check the nose pads and edges of the frame too. Dirt hides in those spots and transfers back onto your lenses if you skip them.
Store your glasses in a glasses case when you are not wearing them. That single habit prevents most of the scratching and dirty glasses problems we hear about.
Why This Matters For Businesses Too
If you are a business owner, the lens cleaning problem is bigger than you might think. Your employees wear glasses. Your customers use safety goggles, sunglasses, or protective eyewear. Dirty lenses affect performance, safety, and comfort across all of those applications.
We offer commercial wholesale pricing for businesses that need consistent, reliable lens cleaning solutions at volume. We also offer private label options for companies that want our proven formula under their own brand.
That private label program is one of the most powerful things we offer. You get 40 years of manufacturing expertise, a formula that works, and your name on the bottle. Optical shops, sports retailers, and safety suppliers use it to deliver real value to their customers without building a formula from scratch.
The KleerVu Difference

Karen built this company because she wanted a solution that actually worked. She wear glasses herself. She experienced the frustration of dirty glasses, foggy lenses, and cleaners that left more problems than they solved.
Everything we have built since 1986 comes from that original motivation. A formula that is alcohol free. A product that protects coatings instead of stripping them. A cleaner that leaves your eyeglasses and eye glasses scratch free and streak free every time.
Cleaning eyeglasses should not be complicated. Cleaning glasses should not require ten different products, homemade solutions, or a guessing game about whether your coatings are safe. It should just work.
Ours does. Visit our shop to find the right product for your lenses. Browse our full line at kleervu.com or contact us to ask about wholesale and private label options.
